6:00 AM – Waking Up in the Snowy Morning
I woke up at 6:00 AM to a snowy morning in Hokkaido. My younger son had slept through the night, but he was still reluctant to get up. Since he hadn’t bathed last night, I encouraged him to take a quick morning bath. Afterward, I served him a hearty breakfast and dropped him off at school for morning practice by 7:00 AM.
7:40 AM – Ski Day for My Elder Son
My elder son didn’t need a bento box today since he had a school ski trip. At 7:40 AM, I helped him load his ski gear and drove him near his school. Afterward, I returned home to hand the car back to my husband, who left for work at 8:00 AM.
8:30 AM – Quiet Morning Routine
With everyone gone, I finally had the house to myself. I vacuumed the rooms, washed the dishes, and did the laundry before sitting down for some study time. Recently, I’ve been diving into AI, so I postponed my Python studies for the time being.
12:00 PM – A Simple Lunch for One
For lunch, I had leftover pork miso soup (豚汁) and rice balls. The warm soup was comforting in the cold, and I turned off the heater during the day to save energy. I rely on a hot water bottle to stay warm—one of my tricks for managing rising utility costs in Japan.
3:00 PM – A Sweet Afternoon Break
I took a break at 3:00 PM to enjoy a slice of “Sanporoku” (三方六), a famous baumkuchen from Hokkaido, paired with a hot cup of coffee. This little treat gave me the energy I needed to continue studying.
5:30 PM – Evening Chaos Begins
At 5:30 PM, my elder son returned from skiing, famished. I served him a hearty bowl of ramen. Shortly after, my younger son came back from his club activities at 6:00 PM, and I prepared ramen for him as well.
8:00 PM – Second Dinner and Study Time
Despite eating ramen earlier, my sons were still hungry later in the evening. I quickly made pork bowls (豚丼) to fill them up. My husband returned home late due to work, and he enjoyed a quick dinner as well.
By 8:30 PM, my younger son went to his cram school for self-study, while my elder son completed an online mock test.
12:30 AM – Wrapping Up the Day
I finally ended the day at 12:30 AM, after a long but fulfilling day managing family, housework, and study.
