A Day in the Life: Bento Box Essentials and a Simple Dinner

5:50 AM – Waking Up and Trying a New Rice Seasoning

This morning, I tried a new rice seasoning for my onigiri. It had a soy sauce flavor, and after a quick taste test, I found it quite delicious.

As for the bento, I kept it simple today. I ended up using a lot of frozen foods, which is not ideal, but sometimes convenience wins over perfection.

9:00 AM – Working at the Computer and Exercise Thoughts

I spent the morning working on my computer, as usual. My lack of exercise is becoming a concern.

I’ve been thinking about starting yoga, but today, I decided to skip it. At least acknowledging the idea is a step in the right direction.

Why I’ve Been Using the Same Bento Boxes for Over 10 Years

Since my weekdays often look the same, I thought I’d talk about my bento boxes today.

I’ve been using the same stainless steel and aluminum bento boxes for over a decade. Over the years, I’ve tried different types, including two-tiered and slim card-style bento boxes, but these two have stood the test of time.

Stainless Steel Bento Box: My Go-To Choice

  • Used almost daily.
  • Deep enough to adjust portions easily.
  • No rubber seal, making it easy to wash and maintain.
  • Sturdy and well-made.
  • I plan to use it indefinitely unless it breaks.

8:00 PM – Dinner: Homemade Hamburger Steak

For dinner, I made hamburger steaks upon my child’s request.

Luckily, I had stocked up on 100% beef ground meat from Costco, so I made two large hamburger steaks. My child was delighted, which made me happy.

Even though my daily routine is mostly the same, I try to find small joys and appreciate the little details in everyday life.
